SVCF’s application for the site observation to TEPCO has been refused

TEPCO declined in writing on Friday, September 28, an application of SVCF to observe the accident site of the Fukushima Daiichi NPP.

The reason for the refusal is that a visitation by ordinary people at the cleanup site is very hazardous and risky to them, also that their visits may interfere with the work being carried out, in view of the situation that the on-site cleanup work are still being executed under difficult and unsafe conditions.

At this stage therefore, as a general rule, no ordinary people can be accepted on site.

The above reply is made in response to the SVCF’s application handed over to Mr. Kenzo Takase, Manager, Nuclear Power & Location, TEPCO, on September 14, by the seven SVCF members led by Dr. Kunio Ito, Professor Emeritus at Tokyo University.

We will continue to request TEPCO to allow us a site observation.
